Yea I will include templates also. All those car textures are at 1024 res...that is why so clear.

That was vertex damage...but I do have damage models in the works, as well as a few other things never seen in any other mod...just have to wait and see. ;D

Hey Brandon, first of all, I always forget to check thread for new screens It would be a good idea if you made new posts instead of editing first one. Just for convinience sake On the other note, I've noticed F360's cockpit's wheel is really small, even compared to other cockpits you showed. But that's not all Almost all cocpits have *oval* steering wheels instead of round ones. Also, it seems the mapping is stretched in 360's and Viper's cockpits. Just pointing it out before it's too late Not meaning to add any extra work to you, but just thought I'd mention. Other than that they look sweet.

Yea I will start posting up different threads. I didn't know if anyone would notice the newly added pictures or not. The steering wheels I know are oval hehe I got lazy on that one, but I'm going to fix it today. And for the textures being stretched..I'm not sure why they look that way in those two I noticed that myself. I'm glad you are pointing out these little things so I don't forget to fix them though But off to finish up the rest of the cockpits and then onto those little things and the rest of the screens and it's complete ;D I hope to have it ready to download by Sunday night.

Hey Oleg I gotta question...is it possible to change the loading order of screens in heat or is that totally impossible? Could you or could you not just take the info from one lyt file and add to another? I haven't played with this yet but I thought maybe you had gave it a try. Like add different buttons to the main screen to take you somewhere else? Couldn't you just add that buttons info and loading order from the lyt file to the main screen lyt? Oh yea and I figured something out yesterday reguarding changing driving views using the F1 - F4 keys ;D and it involves packing a .tab file in a .car file hehehehehe Just have to wait and see what I got cooking though.

wow, can't wait to see that in action!! But I can already say great job! But what you're asking about LYT files, well I read that you were interested in it before, but I haven't really tried it yet. But I will, and if it's possible, I'll let you know As a matter of fact, that interests me too. Back in the days of raybee1970.conforums.com I think I asked if it was possible to skip the entire drivers selection screen, but it wasn't possible at that time. Who knows, maybe it is possible afterall. Oleg

Physics update All GT1 class cars are now balanced to the point where I no longer can tell them apart in anything but feel. No one will ever say that one car has an advantage over another, cause they are equal. Still, due to the fact that they do have different footprints, they will feel slightly different. Not much, but enough to give them characteristics. GT2 class final balancing is underway and will be ready in the next few days. They are already close, but not as close as the GT1's. Naturally, they will be fitted with individual (if needed) AI values and throughly tested off line. So far, the best offline performance comes from the Ferrari 575 (which was the one I started with), and it actually behaves quite real now. It does give you a run for your money, but it may also make driver mistakes and miss a brake point and end up in the gravel. Together with the Off-Line tracks they will be simply stunning Now for the thing I like to brag about There are 2 classes that perform about the same as real world cars as far as times are concerned. But even though there are two classes, they still can make good use of the same base setup. This means that they will work off line since the setup used when setting the .GCF will be what the AI use. The only thing that doesn't work well off line is qualifying. The GT2 AI cars will cheat and magically do times the same as the GT1's. I would suspect that the physics are ready for beta some time early next week.

Damn!!! Have to wait till sunday yet!!!! He he, just kidding!!! ;D At least I have two days to get room to this mod in my HD!!! ==== BTW, I was thinking on that same issue a little while ago. I wanted to be able to call a readme file, an outside application or a movie from an additional (or modified) button on Heat main screen. This would solve the sound problem with bink video files since it could be possible create a standalone movie. Mauro. ====

Glad to see a good bit of people are interested in this. I was thinking the physics I had were the final ones Magnus lol. But I can wait on them, because I'm sure they will be truly awesome ;D When I get some time later on this afternoon I will post up some update pictures. I been moving into my new house ever since I started this mod and time is of essence everyday. I get fussed at quite often by my wife about sitting on the computer for hours and hours. She's a graphic artist herself...I finally talked her into helping me yesterday. She is going to do all the screen work for me Can't wait to see this lol. Oh yea does everybody want the paint.res with the high-res textures (1024x1024 car paints) or should I make a 512x512 as well? Because I just looked and as I sit right now this mod is going to be well over 60megs...

I think that the 512*512 will be good to use online at least. Some experiments have proved that the texture size alone effect framerate and loading times, witch means a 512 sized texture is preferred online.

Any size between 60-100 meg is acceptable (IMO).
I would like the hi-res paints. They look amazing!!

Yes they do. On a lower end system it can mean the difference between drivable or not. Try the VTA mod with the 1024 textures and then with the 512 textures and you see what I mean. It can differ over 15 fps.

Well, 1024x1024 paint.res should be by default IMO, and 512x512 as a bonus ;D Yea, you can say I'm a high res freak Seriously though, I like good quality. And as Mauro says, mods up to 100 MBs are fine with me as well. Magnus, sounds really great. Didn't know AI cheats during qualification, but I don't think that's a big of an issue anyway. And, finally, somebody made a mod with distinct classes! We needed something fresh like this

I say bring it full fat!! Who cares about a 60+ MB mod when hard drives are over 200 GB?

Post by 2fnlow on Apr 7, 2006 15:03:15 GMT -5
So by default I will put the 1024 res in there and offer 512 and even 256 if requested by anyone for online use. Now my big question, if I create the screens at 1154x864 which is my native resolution on my LCD monitor will that work right on other pc's up to that resolution? Will it make my screens fit on another montior at 800x600 and it look right?
On a little side note...if you thought those paintjobs looked good at 1024 you should have saw them at 2048 before I took them down to 1024 lol. I have a Dell XPS 600 and I couldn 't run a full field of 2048's lol. Was skipping and locked completely down.
If you get time Oleg send me a copy of one of your track camera.tab files as a text ready to be turned into a .tab file. Later guys.

Firstwait, what do you mean by 2048? mktex does not support 2048 textures. It will yeild an error. You hacked something? SecondAbout those resolutions in UI. The problem is, I added support to alter button/text positions for 6 screens only (so far), which means whenever you open up a screen I didn't make support for and which you hadn't altered, all controls will be somewhere closer to the center of the screen, which might not be what you want... unless of course you figured out the addresses on your own for all needed controls/screens and edited as needed? And I've just tried the 1152x864 on my CRT monitor and it worked fine. After I saw problems with LCDs, I can't be sure of anything, but I assume this resolution should work on most monitors, be it LCD or CRT. (the wife is going to do the screens for a sim racing mod? hey I gotta see this ;D ) ThirdAs for camera.txt, here, I've just found this on forums, it's not mine but it doesn't matter, I believe you need the format (hint: first 2 lines are static, you don't usually modify them. The rest numbers are: X, Z, Y (yes, exactly this order)+ 3 attributes which are specific to each cam. Check The Mod Squad forums for more info): 16 $ 10 $ 10 $ 10 $ 10 $ 10 $ 10 zoom $ 0 $ 0 $ 0 $ 7 $ 30 $ -2 closeup $ 1453 $ 0 $ 34 $ 7 $ -30 $ -2 pan $ 874 $ 0 $ 1206 $ 80 $ -65 $ 2 zoom $ 530 $ 0 $ -296 $ -1 $ 105 $ 1 pan $ 75 $ 0 $ 972 $ 30 $ 71 $ -18 zoom $ -233 $ 0 $ 1876 $ -1 $ 201 $ -16 fixed $ 537 $ 0 $ 1713 $ -12 $ 200 $ 4 fixed $ 585 $ 0 $ 2392 $ 4 $ -10 $ 6 closeup $ -1166 $ 0 $ 1785 $ -1 $ 155 $ -5 origin $ -971 $ 0 $ -76 $ -4 $ 85 $ 3 zoom $ -804 $ 0 $ -2171 $ -4 $ 85 $ 3 pan $ 451 $ 0 $ -2211 $ 50 $ 50 $ -3 closeup $ 1017 $ 0 $ -1137 $ 7 $ -30 $ -2

The horrible truth is that far from every location in this country (and I would suspect many others as well) is covered by services such as DSL or fiber. But... 60-100mb should be fine for most Heck, I used to download stuff that big back when I was on modem. --- Edit --- Oh and I'm finalizing the work on the Porsche. I should have the finals ready for Brandon really soon. AI have been tested on all five released Off Line tracks plus a few that I have in the works. The Porsche was acting up just a little and left their fellow competitors behind after about 15 laps. Soon ready

I didn't have any problem running a 2048 texture through mktex? I remember back when High-Compression was around that is what our painting templates were, and we didn't resize them until we took our ingame screen shots showing the paintjob (I know...crooked asses) lol
I know where the addresses are to edit the buttons...I did it for my DTM mod ;D and you answered my question. Thanks.
Ok that is the same camera text I have, just making sure...I didn't know if those top two lines had to be there or not because if you look at one inside of a track file they aren't.
I can't wait for the physics update Magnus hurry up... ;D just kidding man take your time you are doing a wonderful job on them so far.
I remember back about 6 years ago I had dial-up then I went to ISDN, then Satellite (Big mistake there, it really sucked), then onto cable and I could never go back to any of those previous ISP's. I'm on a 5mbit down 1mbit up line so it's all good.
